Walking
From the center of Sigiriya, head south towards the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Walk along the main road for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction with the Polonnaruwa Road. Turn left onto the Polonnaruwa Road and continue walking straight for approximately 10 kilometers. You will pass several small shops and local eateries along the way. After about 10 minutes, you will see signs directing you towards the Council Chamber in Polonnaruwa. Continue walking straight; the Council Chamber will be on your right. The entire journey will take around 2 hours depending on your walking pace.
Bicycle
If you prefer to rent a bicycle, there are several rental shops in Sigiriya. Once you have a bicycle, head south towards the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Ride along the main road for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction with the Polonnaruwa Road. Turn left onto the Polonnaruwa Road. Continue riding straight for approximately 10 kilometers. You will enjoy the scenic views and may stop at any local shops along the way. After about 30 minutes of cycling, you will reach the Council Chamber, which will be on your right.
Tuk-Tuk
Hail a tuk-tuk from any point in Sigiriya. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Council Chamber in Polonnaruwa. The drive will take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will take you directly to the site, and you can negotiate the fare before starting your journey. Make sure to ask for their phone number or a way to contact them for your return trip.
