Walking
From the Sigiriya Rock Fortress entrance, head south towards the main road (Dambulla - Sigiriya Road). Once you reach the road, turn left and walk along the side of the road towards the Dambulla direction. Continue walking for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you see a small path leading to the right. This path will take you towards the Mapagala Fortress. Follow this path, which will lead you through some greenery and up a slight incline, until you reach the fortress.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from a local shop in Sigiriya. Start at the entrance of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and head south towards Dambulla - Sigiriya Road. Turn left and cycle for about 1.5 kilometers. Look for a small path on your right leading towards Mapagala Fortress. Follow this path as it climbs gently, and be cautious of any uneven terrain. The ride should take around 10-15 minutes, depending on your speed.
Guided Tour
Consider booking a guided tour from Sigiriya, which includes transportation to Mapagala Fortress. Many local tour operators offer this service. They will pick you up from your hotel or a central location in Sigiriya. The tour will usually include a knowledgeable guide who can provide insights about the fortress and its history.
