Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Southern Province, take the A2 highway north towards Colombo. Follow the signs to Colombo and merge onto the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway (E03) for a quicker route. Continue on the expressway until you reach the Colombo exit. Once in Colombo, follow signs to Galle Face Green. You can park at nearby parking facilities, such as the Galle Face Hotel parking area or designated public parking spaces along the promenade. Expect to pay a small fee for parking, usually around 100-300 LKR depending on duration.

• Public Bus

  From any major town in Southern Province, board a bus heading to Colombo. Look for buses labeled 'Colombo' or 'Kottawa to Colombo' at the local bus terminal. The journey may take approximately 2-3 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Colombo Central Bus Stand, transfer to a local bus or tuk-tuk heading towards Galle Face Green. Local buses numbered 100 or 101 will take you close to the destination. The bus fare will typically cost around 150-300 LKR.

• Train

  Take a train from the nearest railway station in Southern Province to Colombo Fort Station. Trains run regularly, and you can check the schedule for exact times. The train journey can take between 2 to 4 hours, depending on the service. Once you arrive at Colombo Fort Station, you can either walk (approximately 20-30 minutes) or take a tuk-tuk or bus to Galle Face Green. The taxi fare from Fort Station to Galle Face Green should be around 200-400 LKR.

• Tuk-Tuk

  If you are already in Colombo, you can easily hire a tuk-tuk for a short ride to Galle Face Green. Tuk-tuks are widely available and can be hailed on the street or booked through ride-hailing apps. The fare should be around 150-300 LKR depending on your starting location in Colombo.
