If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Kandy, a central hub in Up-Country. Head north on the A1 highway towards Kurunegala. After approximately 40 kilometers, take the exit onto the A6 road at Kurunegala, following signs for Anuradhapura. Continue on the A6 for about 50 kilometers until you reach Minuwangeta. Look for the signposts leading to the Deduruoya Reservoir Dam. The dam is located just off the highway at the coordinates 7.7184° N, 80.2747° E. Parking is available near the dam area.

Public Transport - Bus
For those using public transport, head to the Kandy Central Bus Stand. Board a bus heading towards Kurunegala (approximately LKR 100). Once you arrive at Kurunegala, transfer to a bus that goes to Minuwangeta (approximately LKR 50). After arriving in Minuwangeta, you can take a tuk-tuk to the Deduruoya Reservoir Dam, which should cost around LKR 200-300. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they know the dam's location, which is near the Anuradhapura Highway.

If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Kandy. The taxi ride will take about 1.5 hours, covering approximately 90 kilometers. The fare can range from LKR 4000 to LKR 6000 depending on negotiation and time of day. Confirm that the driver is familiar with the Deduruoya Reservoir Dam before starting your journey.
