Getting There

    If you are traveling by car, start from the city of Kandy, which is a common base in the Up-Country. Head northeast on the A26 road towards Hunnasgiriya. Continue on this road for approximately 22 kilometers until you reach the junction at Hunnasgiriya. Turn left onto the B55 road and follow it for about 15 kilometers until you reach the village of Palugaswewa. From there, follow the signs to Ritigala Strict Natural Reserve, which is a short drive away. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rural roads as some sections may be rough.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Ritigala Strict Natural Reserve using public transport, start from Kandy. Take a bus from Kandy to Hunnasgiriya (approximately 1.5 hours). Once you arrive at Hunnasgiriya, you will need to take a tuk-tuk or a local taxi to Palugaswewa (around 15-20 minutes).
