Getting There

    If you're driving, head towards the town of Hunnasgiriya. From there, take the A1 road heading north until you reach the junction for the A26 road. Turn onto A26 and follow the signs for Palugaswewa. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers, passing through scenic countryside. When you see the sign for 'Ritigala Archaeological Site', turn onto the road leading to the site. There is a parking area near the entrance. Be aware that the last part of the road may be unpaved, so a vehicle with higher clearance is recommended.

    To reach Ritigala by public transport, take a bus from Kandy to Anuradhapura. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at the Hunnasgiriya junction. From there, you can catch a local bus heading towards Palugaswewa. Inform the driver that you want to visit Ritigala.
