Breathtaking Views at Avudangawa Lake Sigiriya Rock View Point

Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the Sigiriya Rock Fortress entrance. Head south on the Dambulla-Sigiriya road. Walk for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Ambepussa - Trincomalee Highway (A9). Turn left onto the A9 highway. Continue walking for about 3 kilometers. You will pass through a few small shops and local houses. Keep an eye out for the sign for Avudangawa Lake on your right. Once you see the sign, follow the path leading down towards the lake. This final stretch is about 500 meters and will take you directly to the Avudangawa Lake Sigiriya Rock View Point.

• Tuk-tuk

  From the Sigiriya town center, find a tuk-tuk stand or ask your hotel to arrange one. Inform the driver that you want to go to Avudangawa Lake Sigiriya Rock View Point. The ride will take approximately 15 minutes. The driver will take you along the Dambulla-Sigiriya road and then turn onto the Ambepussa - Trincomalee Highway (A9). The tuk-tuk will drop you off at the entrance to the lake area. From there, it is a short walk of about 500 meters to reach the viewpoint.

• Bicycle Rental

  Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Sigiriya. Start at the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and cycle south along the Dambulla-Sigiriya road. After about 1.5 kilometers, turn left onto the Ambepussa - Trincomalee Highway (A9). Continue cycling for 3 kilometers, watching for the sign for Avudangawa Lake. Once you see the sign, follow the path leading down to the lake. The total distance is around 5 kilometers, and cycling will take approximately 20-30 minutes.
