After about 35 kilometers, you will reach a junction at Matale. Turn left onto the A9 road, and continue for about 5 kilometers until you see signage for Pitawala. Follow the signs for an additional 8 kilometers, which will lead you directly to Riverston Basecamp. Ensure to check the condition of your vehicle as the roads can be narrow and winding, especially closer to Riverston.

To reach Riverston using public transport, start from the Kandy Bus Station. Take a bus heading towards Matale; the journey takes about 1 hour. Once in Matale, transfer to a local bus heading to Pitawala. This bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Inform the conductor of your destination, and they will let you know when to alight. From the bus stop in Pitawala, you can walk to Riverston Basecamp, which is about 1 kilometer away. Be prepared for a short walk along hilly terrain. Ensure you have small change ready for bus fares.
