The project was delivered over several years by the volunteer association Lysekils Vänner with material support from foundations, local businesses and the municipality. The work involved thousands of volunteer hours and large volumes of timber and fixings; the result reads as a community-crafted public amenity rather than a municipal imposition, and the feeling of local ownership is visible in the care given to seating, signage and small details along the way.

Strolling the promenade you alternate between open-sky viewpoints that reveal scattered islets and sheltered niches where the sea creaks quietly against timber. Benches invite coffee breaks and quiet observation; two simple barbecue sites provide focal points for relaxed picnics. Bathing ladders drop into deep blue water and a modest dive platform gives a chance for a quick adrenalin rush on warm days. Birdlife and occasional passing boats animate the view; light on the water changes rapidly, so the route rewards repeated visits at different times of day.

The promenade forms part of the larger Coastal Path network and links local harbours and beaches, making it easy to combine the walk with other short coastal excursions. The timber walkway was built in stages to respect the rock contours and minimise heavy construction; as a result the atmosphere is intimate and human-scale rather than industrial. Because the route is mostly at sea level and exposed to the elements, weather affects the tone of a visit — crisp, blustery days emphasise the wildness of the Bohuslän coast while calm summer mornings feel almost Mediterranean in mood.
