Origins at Brunneby Gård

In 1941, farmer and entrepreneur Carl-Gösta Kjellin began pressing apples from his own orchard and local Östergötland growers at Brunneby Gård, laying the foundation for what would become a beloved family enterprise. This picturesque farm, situated where lush plains meet the iconic Göta Canal just outside charming Borensberg, has roots stretching back centuries. The estate's name appears in records as early as 1269, owned by notable figures including lagman Bengt Magnusson, and later linked to noble families like Vasa and Leijonhufvud.By the 17th century, it passed to fältmarskalk Johan Banér, and the current manor house with its mansard roof was constructed in 1735 by Gustav Adolf Makalöser in revetted timber, with renovations in the 1850s and 1911 when the Kjellin family took ownership.

Craftsmanship in Fruit and Berry Processing

Today, third-generation owners Gunnar Kjellin and Eva Ronström oversee the production of natural, preservative-free products including fresh apple cider in autumn, berry juices like strawberry, blackcurrant, and raspberry in summer, alongside innovative health juices from blueberries, lingonberries, ginger, and beets. Pressing around 500 tons of fruit annually, they collaborate closely with regional growers to ensure quality and sustainability. The mill pioneered Sweden's first preservative-free saft and expanded into a broad cider range that once sold nearly a million bottles yearly. Certifications in KRAV organic production and IP food processing underscore their commitment to excellence, with multiple quality awards highlighting their artisanal approach.

The Vibrant Farm Shop Experience

Step into the spacious gårdsbutik, opened in 2004, brimming with over 150 house-made naturprodukter plus local delicacies. This bustling hub draws visitors year-round for tastings, seasonal markets like julmarknad and vårmarknad, cultural events, and large-scale loppisar. The shop's diverse offerings make it a treasure trove for food lovers seeking authentic Swedish mathantverk.

Dining Amid Historic Surroundings

Adjacent to the shop, the restaurant serves dishes crafted from fresh, local ingredients, emphasizing seasonal flavors in a welcoming atmosphere. Whether savoring a fika with house cider or a full meal overlooking the canal, the setting blends farm-fresh simplicity with the estate's timeless elegance.

Legacy of Innovation and Community

From humble beginnings, Brunneby Musteri has grown into a exporter reaching Europe, the US, and Canada, while remaining deeply rooted in Östergötland traditions. Conference facilities cater to groups, fostering community ties. The site's blend of history, production, and hospitality captures the essence of Swedish rural ingenuity.
