From Bern main station (Bern Hauptbahnhof), take the train towards Montbovon or Bulle. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Get off at the Gruyères station. Once you arrive at Gruyères station, follow the signs for 'Château de Gruyères' which will guide you to the castle. It’s about a 20-minute walk uphill on a paved path.
Bus
From Bern, you can take a bus to the town of Bulle. From Bulle, switch to a local bus that goes to Gruyères. The total travel time is around 1.5 hours. Once you reach Gruyères, follow the signs directing you to 'Château de Gruyères', which is a short 15-minute walk from the bus stop.
Bicycle
For the more adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Bern. Follow the cycle path signs leading you to Gruyères, which is approximately 90 km away. The ride will take around 4-5 hours depending on your pace. Once you reach Gruyères, park your bike at the designated area near the castle and walk the remaining distance to 'Château de Gruyères'.
