Car
If you are driving, head towards the town of Weggis, which is a popular starting point for reaching Rigi Kulm. From Lucerne, take the A2 motorway towards Gotthard, then follow the signs for Weggis. Once you arrive in Weggis, park your car in one of the public parking areas. You will then need to take the aerial cable car from Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad, which costs approximately CHF 20 for a one-way ticket. From Rigi Kaltbad, transfer to the cogwheel train that will take you directly to Rigi Kulm. The train ride is approximately 30 minutes and tickets cost about CHF 10.
Public Transportation
To reach Rigi Kulm using public transportation, start by taking a train to Lucerne. From Lucerne, board a train to Weggis (you may need to transfer at Arth-Goldau depending on your train schedule). Upon arrival in Weggis, you will take the aerial cable car to Rigi Kaltbad, which costs about CHF 20 for a one-way ticket. Once at Rigi Kaltbad, transfer to the cogwheel train heading to Rigi Kulm, which costs an additional CHF 10. Make sure to check the schedule for the cogwheel train, as it may vary throughout the day.
Combination of Car and Public Transport
If you wish to combine driving with public transport, you can drive to Vitznau, which is another access point for Rigi Kulm. From Lucerne, take the A2 motorway and follow signs to Vitznau. Park your car in a public lot, then take the cogwheel train from Vitznau to Rigi Kulm. The ticket for this train costs about CHF 25 one-way. This route offers stunning views as you ascend the mountain.
