Getting There

• Train

  To reach Château-d'Oex from Thun, start by making your way to the Thun train station, which is centrally located. From the station, purchase a ticket to Château-d'Oex. You will typically need to take a train toward Spiez and then switch trains at Spiez to catch the train heading to Château-d'Oex. The total journey takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Château-d'Oex station, exit and follow the signs towards the village center, which is a short 10-minute walk from the station.

• Bus

  If you prefer to travel by bus, head to the Thun bus terminal located near the train station. Look for a bus that goes to Château-d'Oex. The journey will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on the schedule. Once you arrive at the bus stop in Château-d'Oex, you'll find yourself in the village, which is easily walkable. Just head towards the main square to explore the attractions.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Thun. There are several rental shops near the train station. From Thun, you can cycle through the scenic landscape towards Château-d'Oex. The distance is approximately 20 kilometers, and the ride will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your cycling speed. Follow the signs toward the Lake Thun area, and then take the road that leads into the mountains toward Château-d'Oex. Be prepared for some elevation changes!
