The vista over Lake Thun is definitely what I would remember the most. From the helicopter, the turquoise lake provided a whole new view on the entire landscape. The lake, the nearby mountains, and the little settlements appeared to merge into one image from above. It was far more tranquil than I had anticipated.

Relaxed Kayak Experience on Lake Brienz

Kayaking with a severely disabled daughter

Our daughter is severely disabled. She can neither sit up nor hold her head up. Nevertheless, Hightide Kayak School made a wonderful excursion on the lake possible for our family. Our family was equipped with wetsuits, rain jackets, water shoes, life jackets, paddles, and fun water balls. By the way, the kayak school has a separate room with an electric changing table, everything is wheelchair accessible, and the staff is friendly, understanding, and accommodating! Our daughter sat right in front on a beanbag, supported by inflated cushions very comfortably in the front of the boat, and I rowed. My husband and son were in a separate boat, and the instructor was also in a separate boat. We set off with three boats. Our instructor told us something about Lake Brienz and the geographical features, showed us cool splashing techniques with the paddle, played with us with water balls, and taught us proper rowing techniques along the way. The excursion was very successful, and we had a great time. Thanks.

Review of program

First off, our guide was absolutely wonderful. His name was David, and he went out of his way to make our experience special. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, took the time to talk to teach one of us (and remembered our names and details that we told him), and even went the extra mile to walk us into town and show us his favorite waterfall hike. The tour itself was pretty good, though I wish they told us upfront about the swimming opportunities in interlaken. That would’ve been a super fun end to the tour.
