Walking
If you are in the center of Locarno, start at the Locarno train station. Exit the station and walk towards the main square, Piazza Grande. From Piazza Grande, head east towards Via Cattaneo. Continue on Via Cattaneo until you reach the intersection with Via San Francesco. Turn left onto Via San Francesco and walk straight until you reach the lakeside promenade. Follow the promenade south along Lake Maggiore. Once you reach the waterfront, take the ferry to Como. The ferry ride is beautiful and takes about 1 hour. Upon arriving in Como, head to the exit and walk towards the city center, following signs for Villa Olmo. It should take you approximately 15 minutes to walk to Villa Olmo from the ferry terminal.
Public Transport
From Locarno train station, take a train to Como. Trains run frequently, so check the schedule for the next available train. The journey takes about 35-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Como station, exit the station and walk towards the city center. Follow the signs for Villa Olmo, which is about a 15-minute walk from the station. You can also take a local bus if available, but walking is a pleasant option to enjoy the scenery.
