From Lugano, head to the Lugano train station (Stazione di Lugano). You can walk to the station from most central locations in Lugano, as it is about a 10-15 minute walk from the lakeside promenade. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Varenna-Esino. Trains run frequently, and the journey takes about 40 minutes. Upon arrival at Varenna-Esino station, exit the station and follow the signs leading towards the town center. Walk downhill towards the lake, and you will find Viale Giovanni Polvani, where Villa Monastero is located.

You can also reach Villa Monastero by taking a ferry from Lugano. Head to the Lugano ferry terminal located near the lakeside (approximately a 10-minute walk from the city center). Purchase a ticket for a ferry to Varenna. The ferry ride takes about 1 hour and offers beautiful views of Lake Lugano.
