Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Thun's main train station (Bahnhof Thun), exit the station and head towards the main road (Grosse Bahnhofstrasse). Follow this road straight for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Aarestrasse. Turn left onto Aarestrasse and continue walking along the river for approximately 700 meters. You will pass by various shops and cafes. Keep walking until you reach the bridge (Aarebrücke) over the river Aare. Cross the bridge and continue straight ahead. After crossing the bridge, you will see signs pointing to Schlossberg, the hill where Thun Castle is located. Follow the signs to the right and start walking up the hill. The path is well marked and will take you directly to the castle entrance.

    From Thun's main train station (Bahnhof Thun), you can also take a local bus to Thun Castle. Look for bus lines 21 or 22 that go towards 'Schloss Thun' or 'Schlossberg'. Board the bus and enjoy a short ride (about 5-10 minutes) to the 'Schloss Thun' stop. Once you get off, you'll be just a short walk away from the castle entrance. Follow the signs directing you up the hill to the castle.
