Getting there

Train

From Grindelwald, walk to the Grindelwald Bahnhof (train station), which is located at the center of the village. Once there, purchase a ticket to Andermatt. You will take a train operated by the MGB (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn). The journey will involve a transfer at either Meiringen or Brig, depending on the schedule. The total travel time is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Make sure to check the train schedule on the SBB website or at the train station for the latest updates.

Bus

While there is no direct bus from Grindelwald to Andermatt, you can take a bus to Meiringen from Grindelwald. From the Grindelwald bus station, take the PostBus to Meiringen. Once in Meiringen, you can change to another PostBus that will take you to Andermatt. The total journey by bus may take around 3 hours. Be sure to check the bus schedule as times may vary.

Hiking

If you are an adventurous tourist and enjoy hiking, you can consider hiking to Andermatt. Although it's quite a long trek, you can start by walking towards the First area, and then follow hiking trails that lead towards the Oberalp Pass. This route will take you through beautiful alpine scenery but be prepared for a challenging hike of approximately 20 kilometers, which can take 6-8 hours depending on your pace.
