Getting There

• Car

  If you're starting from Geneva, take the A1 highway towards Lausanne, then switch to the A9 towards Martigny. Continue on A9 until you reach the A5 towards Aosta, which will lead you to Airolo. The drive takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, depending on traffic. Be aware of tolls on the highways, and ensure your vehicle is equipped for mountain driving, especially during winter months.

• Public Transportation

  From Geneva, take a train from Geneva's main train station (Gare Cornavin) to Lucerne. This journey takes about 3 hours. Once in Lucerne, transfer to a train heading to Erstfeld. In Erstfeld, catch the train to Airolo. The total travel time using public transport is roughly 4 to 5 hours. Keep in mind that you will need to purchase tickets for each leg of the journey, which can be done at the station or online.

• Bus

  An alternative option is to take a long-distance bus. From Geneva, you can catch a FlixBus to Airolo. This service may take longer than trains, typically around 5 to 6 hours, but it can be a more economical option. Check the FlixBus schedule in advance for departure times and pricing.

• Taxi or Ride-Sharing Service

  For direct access, consider hiring a taxi or using a ride-sharing service like Uber (if available). This option is the most expensive but offers convenience, taking around 3 to 4 hours from Geneva directly to Airolo. Expect to pay upwards of CHF 300 to CHF 500 depending on traffic and time of day.
