Experience Mountaineer's Cemetery

Getting There

  • Walking

    From Zermatt's central square (Bahnhofplatz), head south towards the Main Train Station (Bahnhof Zermatt). Once you reach the station, exit the station and turn left onto Bahnhofstrasse. Continue walking along Bahnhofstrasse, passing shops and cafes. After about 5 minutes, you will reach a roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Kirchstrasse. Continue straight for about 10 minutes; you will see the Mountaineer's Cemetery on your left. The entrance is marked and easily identifiable.

    If you are coming from the Matterhorn Museum, exit the museum and walk towards the main street (Bahnhofstrasse). Turn right and walk straight for about 5 minutes until you reach the roundabout. Take the first exit onto Kirchstrasse and keep walking straight for another 10 minutes. The Mountaineer's Cemetery will be on your left side.

    From the Gornergrat train station, take the train back to Zermatt. Once you arrive back in Zermatt, head towards Bahnhofplatz and follow the previous guidance from the train station exit towards Kirchstrasse to reach the Mountaineer's Cemetery.
