Moods is a live-music venue and jazz club in the Schiffbau complex on Schiffbauplatz, in Zurich West. It has operated here since 2000 and is closely associated with the city’s jazz scene, while also booking world, funk, soul, pop and electro. The room is best understood as a cultural night venue rather than a restaurant or casual bar: people come primarily for the programme, then linger for drinks if the night carries on.

The setting is urban and industrial, with the former Schiffbau works repurposed for culture. That gives the venue a hard-edged, contemporary frame: concrete, steel and the wider warehouse-scale feel of Zurich West rather than any scenic backdrop. Inside, the mood shifts with the event. That makes it a straightforward evening stop from central Zurich, but less appealing by car because parking in the area is limited and unnecessary. The venue is indoors, so weather mainly affects the walk to and from the door. Seating, bar service and accessibility can vary by event layout, so the exact setup is worth checking against the programme. Expect a mid-range to premium spend once tickets and drinks are added, and plan for a visit that usually lasts one concert plus an optional after-show drink.
