Car
If you are traveling by car, you can start your journey from Arusha city center. Head east on the B2 road towards Moshi. After about 12 km, turn left onto the A23 road towards Arusha National Park. Follow the signs for the park entrance. The journey takes about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to have cash ready for the entrance fee, which is approximately $30 for foreign visitors. You will also need to pay for a vehicle permit, which costs around $10.
Public Transportation
To reach Arusha National Park via public transportation, first take a dala-dala (shared minibus) from the central market in Arusha to Momella Gate. Dala-dalas to Momella leave frequently throughout the day and cost around 2,000 TZS (Tanzanian Shillings). The journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Momella Gate, you will need to pay the entrance fee of approximately $30 and a vehicle permit fee if you are hiring a car for a safari. Arrange for a local guide or a safari vehicle at the gate for a better experience in the park.
Taxi
Another option is to hire a taxi directly from Arusha to Arusha National Park. This is more convenient but also more expensive. The taxi ride can cost anywhere from $50 to $80 depending on the negotiation and the type of vehicle. This option allows you to travel at your own pace and enjoy the scenery along the way. Be sure to confirm the return trip with the driver to avoid delays.
