Bicycle
If you're close to the coastline in Masaki, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops. Head south along the oceanfront road, which will eventually lead you towards the ferry terminal at Kigamboni. From there, follow the signs for the ferry to Kigamboni. The ferry ride costs approximately 500 TZS (Tanzanian Shillings) one way and operates frequently throughout the day. Once you arrive at Kigamboni, you can continue your journey by bicycle or on foot to reach Dar Es Salaam Zoo, which is about a 10-minute ride away.

Public Transport (Dala Dala)
From anywhere in Masaki, find a nearby Dala Dala stop. Look for a Dala Dala heading towards the city center or specifically to Kigamboni (usually marked with a sign). The fare is around 400 TZS. Once you arrive at the main bus terminal, transfer to another Dala Dala that goes directly to Kigamboni. After you reach the Kigamboni terminal, ask locals for the best route to the zoo, which is a short walk from the bus stop.

If you are feeling adventurous and are up for a walk, you can stroll towards the ferry terminal at the coast. It’s about a 30-40 minute walk depending on your starting point in Masaki. After reaching the ferry, take the ferry to Kigamboni (costing about 500 TZS). Once you disembark, follow the road signs or ask locals for directions to the zoo, which is approximately a 20-minute walk from the ferry terminal.
