Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from Moshi Town. Head west on B1 towards Dar es Salaam, then take the exit towards A23. Continue on A23 until you reach Lushoto. Once you arrive in Lushoto, look for signs directing you to Irente Viewpoint. The viewpoint is approximately 10 km from Lushoto center. Follow the local roads, and be prepared for some steep and winding paths. There may be a small parking fee at the viewpoint.

• Public Transport - Bus

  From Moshi, take a bus to Lushoto. Buses leave regularly from the Moshi bus terminal and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once in Lushoto, you can hire a local taxi or take a motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) to reach Irente Viewpoint, which is about 10 km away. The taxi fare might cost around 10,000-15,000 TZS depending on the negotiation.

• Public Transport - Shared Taxi

  Alternatively, you can take a shared taxi from Moshi to Lushoto. Shared taxis are usually faster but a bit more expensive than buses. Once in Lushoto, hire a local taxi to take you to Irente Viewpoint. Shared taxis can be found at designated taxi ranks in Moshi and Lushoto. Expect to pay around 15,000-20,000 TZS for the shared taxi ride from Lushoto to the viewpoint.

• Hiking

  For the adventurous traveler, consider hiking from Lushoto to Irente Viewpoint. This scenic route takes about 2-3 hours on foot, depending on your pace. You can ask locals for directions to the hiking trail. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water. There may not be any direct costs for hiking, but it is advisable to have a guide for a better experience, which could cost around 20,000-30,000 TZS.
