Getting There

Car
If you are driving, start from Moshi, which is a popular base for climbers. Take the A23 road heading towards Arusha. After about 30 km, you will reach the Machame Gate, where you will need to register and pay the necessary park fees (approximately $70 USD for non-residents). From Machame Gate, follow the signs to the Machame Route, which is one of the most scenic routes to Kilimanjaro. The path to Stella Point begins at Barafu Camp, which is about 4-5 hours of hiking from the camp. Ensure you have a 4WD vehicle as some roads can be rough. Follow the directions towards Gilman's Point on the way to Stella Point.

Public Transportation
To use public transport, take a shared minibus (dalla dalla) from Moshi to Machame Gate. The fare is around 3,000 TZS (approximately $1.30 USD). Once at Machame Gate, you will need to hire a guide and pay the park fees (approximately $70 USD for non-residents). The guide will lead you through the Machame Route to Barafu Camp. From Barafu Camp, you will start your ascent to Stella Point, which will take around 4-5 hours. Make sure to pack enough water and snacks for the hike.
