• Car Rental

  If you are traveling by car, rent a vehicle in Arusha, which is a common starting point for travelers in the Northern Zone. From Arusha, take the A104 road heading towards Moshi. Continue on A104 until you reach the junction with the B1 road. Take B1 towards Tanga and follow the signs toward Wambaa. The journey will take approximately 5 to 6 hours depending on traffic. Make sure to keep your GPS handy as you will need to navigate through local roads as you approach Wambaa. Fundu Lagoon is located in Wambaa, and you can find it on your map at the coordinates (-5.29156, 39.65856).

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transport, head to the bus terminal in Arusha. Look for buses headed to Tanga or Wambaa. The bus ride may take around 6 to 8 hours, depending on the stops and traffic. Make sure to confirm with the bus company that they drop off in Wambaa. Once you arrive in Wambaa, you can take a local taxi or motorcycle taxi (boda boda) to reach Fundu Lagoon. The fare may vary, so be prepared to negotiate, typically ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 TZS depending on your starting point in Wambaa.

• Taxi Service

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Arusha to Wambaa. This option is more expensive but provides a more comfortable and private experience. The taxi ride will take approximately 5 hours, and you should expect to pay between 150,000 to 200,000 TZS for the trip. Ensure the taxi is registered and agree on the fare before starting your journey. Upon reaching Wambaa, you can ask the driver to take you directly to Fundu Lagoon.
