    If you're traveling by car in the Rift Valley, start by heading towards Mbeya on the A104 road. Once you reach Mbeya, you can take the A7 road heading towards Tunduma. After approximately 90 kilometers, keep an eye out for signage for Lake Rukwa as you approach the area. You'll need to take a turn off the main road; follow local signs to navigate to the lake. Ensure you have a map or GPS, as some areas may not have clear signage.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Lake Rukwa using public transportation, first, you will need to get a bus from Mbeya to Tunduma. Buses frequently depart from the Mbeya bus terminal. The journey takes about 2 hours and costs around 3,000 TZS. Once in Tunduma, you can find local daladalas (minibuses) heading towards Lake Rukwa. Inform the driver of your destination, and it will cost about 1,000 TZS for the ride. The daladala will drop you off at the nearest point to the lake, from where you may need to walk a short distance.
