Car Rental
If you are in a major town in the Rift Valley, such as Arusha or Mwanza, you can rent a car for your journey to Loleza Mountain. First, head south on the A104 road towards Mbeya. After approximately 200 km, you will reach the junction near the town of Mbarali. Here, take a left onto the B1 road towards Mbeya city. Continue driving for about 50 km until you reach the town of Mbeya. From Mbeya, follow signs to the Loleza area, which is located about 30 km northwest of the city center. You may need to ask locals for specific directions as you approach Loleza Mountain, as the road becomes less defined. Ensure your vehicle has a good GPS or map for navigation.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Loleza Mountain via public transport, take a bus from either Arusha or Mwanza to Mbeya. Buses frequently depart from both cities and the journey can take around 8-10 hours. Once in Mbeya, you will need to find a local dala-dala (minibus) heading toward Loleza Mountain. These minibuses can be found near the Mbeya bus station. The ride to Loleza Mountain from Mbeya will take approximately 1 hour. Be prepared for a bumpy ride as the roads can be rough. Confirm with the driver that they will take you close to Loleza Mountain as stops may vary.
Taxi or Ride-Sharing
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi in Mbeya to take you to Loleza Mountain. Taxis can be found at major hotels and the bus station. Negotiate the fare beforehand, as prices may vary. The journey will take about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions. Alternatively, if ride-sharing services are available in Mbeya, you can use an app to request a ride directly to Loleza Mountain.
