Getting There

    From the nearest major town, Arusha, take the A104 highway south towards Karatu. After approximately 100 km, turn onto the B144 road at the Karatu junction. Continue on the B144 for about 30 km until you reach the town of Mto wa Mbu. From Mto wa Mbu, turn onto the road leading to Lake Natron. Follow this road for approximately 50 km until you reach the turnoff for Ol Doinyo Lengai. The road may be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Drive on this road for about 10 km to reach the base of the volcano. Note that there may be an entrance fee charged at the base, so be prepared with Tanzanian shillings.
