Getting There

Walking
From the center of Stone Town (for example, near the Old Fort), head north towards the Forodhani Gardens. Walk along the waterfront promenade until you reach the end of the gardens. Continue along the path that leads you to the main road. Once you reach the road, turn left onto Nungwi Road. Follow Nungwi Road for about 5 kilometers. You will pass several local shops and small eateries along the way. Keep an eye out for signs pointing towards Fukuchani. After about a 1-hour walk, you will arrive at Fukuchani Ruins & Cave, located at the coordinates 57CR+6QR on Nungwi Road. The ruins will be on your left side.

If you have rented a bicycle in Stone Town, start from the Old Fort area. Cycle north along the waterfront, passing the Forodhani Gardens. Continue onto Nungwi Road, biking for approximately 5 kilometers. The ride should take around 20-30 minutes. Watch for signage indicating Fukuchani as you approach the ruins, which will be located on your left at 57CR+6QR on Nungwi Road.

Once you disembark, walk back along Nungwi Road for a few meters, and you will find the entrance to the ruins on your left at 57CR+6QR.
