Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Stone Town, head towards the Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe) located at the seafront. Once you reach the Old Fort, continue straight along the coastline until you reach the Forodhani Gardens. Keep walking past the gardens until you reach the main road. At this point, turn left and follow the road for about 15 minutes. You will see signs guiding you towards the Zanzibar Butterfly Centre. It will be on your right, just before you reach Pete village.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Stone Town. Start from the House of Wonders and cycle towards the seafront. Continue cycling along the coast until you reach the Old Fort. From there, take the main road leading out of Stone Town towards Pete village. Follow this road for about 20-25 minutes. You’ll notice the signs for the Zanzibar Butterfly Centre, which will be on your right side.

  • Public Transport (Dala Dala)

    Locate the Dala Dala station in Stone Town, near the Old Fort. Take a Dala Dala heading towards Pete. The fare is very affordable, and the ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Inform the driver you want to get off at the Zanzibar Butterfly Centre stop. Once you get off, walk back a few meters, and you will see the entrance to the centre.
