From the center of Tanga, head east towards the Tanga Beach area. Walk along the main road, Mombasa Road, until you reach the junction with Kange Road. Continue straight onto Kange Road, which will eventually lead you out of the city limits. After approximately 2 km, you will notice signs pointing towards Tangata. Follow these signs as the road curves and heads into more rural terrain. You'll need to walk about 5 km from the city to reach the base of Tangata, which is marked by a small trailhead.

  • Bicycle

Rent a bicycle from a local shop near the Tanga central market. Start your journey by cycling east on Mombasa Road. As you reach the junction with Kange Road, take a left and continue cycling straight. Keep an eye out for signs indicating the direction to Tangata. This route spans about 7 km from Tanga city center and is relatively flat, making it an enjoyable ride. Parking your bicycle at the trailhead is recommended.

  • Local Bus

Head to the main bus station in Tanga, known as 'Tanga Main Bus Stand'. Look for a bus heading towards the nearby villages or rural areas that mention Tangata or Kange. The fare is usually very affordable. Inform the bus conductor that you want to get off at the closest point to Tangata. The bus will likely drop you off about 1 km from the trailhead.
