Getting There

Walking
If you are in Stone Town, start at the Forodhani Gardens, a popular waterfront park. From there, head east towards the Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe). Walk along the seafront and enjoy the view of the ocean. Once you reach the Old Fort, take the road that leads south, which is Kaunda Road. Continue walking straight for about 10 minutes. You will see the Old Portuguese Arch on your right-hand side, close to the intersection with the street leading to the market.

If you are near the Darajani Market, exit the market area and head west towards the ocean. From the market, walk straight down to the seafront road. Turn right and walk along the seafront until you reach the Old Fort. As you pass the Old Fort, continue along Kaunda Road for about 5 minutes, and you will find the Old Portuguese Arch on your right.

From the Zanzibar Ferry Terminal, exit and walk towards the main road (Mizingani Road). Turn right and walk until you reach the Forodhani Gardens. From there, follow the instructions above to reach the Old Portuguese Arch via the Old Fort.
