From Rock City, head southeast on the main road back towards the city. Merge onto US-27 N towards Knoxville. Continue on US-27 N for approximately 7 miles. Take the exit toward Hixson Pike/US-127. Keep left at the fork and merge onto Hixson Pike. After about 2.5 miles, turn right onto Lake Resort Drive. Follow Lake Resort Drive for about 1 mile until you reach TVA Big Ridge Small Wild Area. There is no entrance fee required.

Start at the nearest bus stop in Rock City and catch the Hamilton County Public Transportation bus (Route 11) heading towards Hixson. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach the stop at Hixson Pike. From there, it is a 20-minute walk (about 1 mile) to TVA Big Ridge Small Wild Area. Walk along Hixson Pike and turn right onto Lake Resort Drive. Continue on Lake Resort Drive until you arrive at your destination. Note that bus fares may apply, typically around $1.50 per ride.
