Getting There

• Bus

  From downtown Austin, head to the nearest bus stop and take Capital Metro bus route 22 (from stops like 6th and Congress). Ride the bus towards 'North Lamar/45th' and get off at the stop at 45th Street and Bull Creek Road. From there, transfer to route 3 (which heads towards 'Burnet/Parmer'), and get off at 'Mount Bonnell Drive'. You will need to walk about 0.5 miles up Mount Bonnell Drive to reach the entrance of Mount Bonnell.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the many bike share stations in downtown Austin. Head north on Lamar Blvd. and follow the bike lanes. Continue on to 45th Street, then turn right onto Bull Creek Road. Follow Bull Creek Road until you reach Mount Bonnell Drive, then turn left and ride up to the entrance of Mount Bonnell. It's about a 3.5-mile ride from downtown, taking approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on your pace.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy a scenic walk, you can start from the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake. Walk north along the trail until you reach the intersection with 15th Street. Turn right, then take a left on Lamar Blvd. Follow Lamar Blvd. until you reach 45th Street, then turn left. Continue on 45th Street until you reach Bull Creek Road. Turn right onto Bull Creek Road, then turn left onto Mount Bonnell Drive. The walk from Lady Bird Lake to Mount Bonnell is about 4 miles and will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

• Rideshare

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can use a rideshare app like Uber or Lyft. Simply enter 'Mount Bonnell' or '3800 Mt Bonnell Dr, Austin, TX 78731' as your destination. The driver will take you directly to the entrance of Mount Bonnell, which is particularly convenient if you're carrying gear or if it’s a hot day.
