Car
From the main entrance of Davis Mountains State Park, head southeast on TX-118 S. Continue on TX-118 S for about 5 miles. You will see a sign for Fort Davis. Take a left onto FM 2010, and continue for approximately 1 mile. Once you reach the intersection with TX-17, turn right. After about 3 miles, you will see the Sleeping Lion Mountain on your left. There is parking available along the side of the road. Please note that there may be a nominal entry fee for the state park.
Public Transportation
Currently, there are limited public transportation options directly to Davis Mountains State Park. However, you can take a Greyhound bus to Fort Davis. From Fort Davis, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to the park entrance. Once in the park, refer to the car guidance above to reach Sleeping Lion Mountain.
Hiking
If you are already within Davis Mountains State Park and wish to hike to Sleeping Lion Mountain, start from the park's visitor center. Follow the trails that lead towards TX-118, then head south on the dirt roads that lead to the base of Sleeping Lion Mountain. The hike is approximately 2 miles with moderate elevation changes. Ensure you wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry plenty of water.
