Public Transit
If you are starting from the Houston city center, head to the nearest METRO Light Rail station, which is the Main Street Square station. Board the Red Line train towards the Fannin South station. Stay on the train for approximately 10 stops. Get off at the Hermann Park/Rice U station. Once you exit the station, walk south on Hermann Park Drive for about 5 minutes, and you will reach the Houston Zoo at 6200 Hermann Park Dr.
Walking
If you are near the Medical Center area, you can walk to the Houston Zoo. Start at the Texas Medical Center, and head east on Holcombe Blvd until you reach Hermann Park. Enter the park and follow the signs to the zoo, which is located at 6200 Hermann Park Dr. The walk should take about 15-20 minutes, depending on your pace.
Bus
You can take METRO Bus Route 11, which travels through the Houston area. Find the nearest bus stop for Route 11 and board the bus heading towards the 'West Loop'. You will want to get off at the stop near the intersection of Hermann Park Dr and N MacGregor Way. From there, walk south on Hermann Park Dr for about 10 minutes to reach the Houston Zoo at 6200 Hermann Park Dr.
