To reach the Texas Capitol from McKinney Falls State Park by car, start by exiting the park onto Elgin Rd. Continue on Elgin Rd until you reach the intersection with US-183 N. Merge onto US-183 N and continue for approximately 7 miles. Take the exit toward 15th St/Anderson Ln. Continue straight to stay on 15th St. After about 1 mile, turn left onto Congress Ave. The Texas Capitol will be on your left at 1100 Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78701. There is parking available in the vicinity, but be aware that parking fees may apply.
Public Transportation
To reach the Texas Capitol using public transportation from McKinney Falls State Park, first, you will need to ride the Capital Metro bus. Walk to the nearest bus stop at 1800 Elgin St. Take bus route 300 (the 'Govalle' line) towards Downtown Station. After about 30 minutes, get off at the stop at 8th St/Guadalupe St. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to the Texas Capitol. Head south on Guadalupe St, then turn right onto 11th St, and finally left onto Congress Ave. The Capitol will be at 1100 Congress Ave. Make sure to check the Capital Metro website for current schedules and any potential fares.
