From McAllen, take US-83 E toward Harlingen. After about 18 miles, take the exit for TX-107 toward Mission/Alamo. Continue on TX-107 for about 5 miles, then turn right onto Green Jay Road. The Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge entrance will be on your left after approximately 1 mile. The address is 3325 Green Jay Road, Alamo, TX 78516. Parking is available on-site.

Start at the McAllen Central Station and take a local bus toward Alamo. You will need to transfer to a taxi or rideshare service to reach the refuge, as public transport does not go directly to Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge. The taxi or rideshare will cost approximately $15-$25 for the remaining 10-minute ride to the refuge entrance at 3325 Green Jay Road, Alamo, TX 78516.

For those who prefer cycling, begin at the McAllen Bicycle Trail and head east toward TX-107. Follow the trail to Green Jay Road, which you can take north directly to the refuge. The total distance is about 15 miles and may take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on your cycling speed. Ensure you have water and snacks for the ride.

Walking to the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge is not recommended due to the distance and lack of sidewalks. However, if you're staying nearby in Alamo, you can walk from the town center to the refuge, which is about 3 miles away. Head east on TX-107, then turn onto Green Jay Road. It may take about 1 hour to walk there, so be prepared with proper footwear and water.
