If you're coming from San Angelo, take U.S. Highway 87 South for approximately 60 miles until you reach the junction with Farm to Market Road 864. Turn right onto Farm to Market Road 864 and continue for about 12 miles. The fort will be on your left at 7066 Farm to Market Rd 864, Fort McKavett, TX 76841. Make sure to keep an eye out for the site signage along the route.

  For those relying on public transportation, the options may be limited. The nearest significant public transport hub is in San Angelo. From San Angelo, you can take a Greyhound bus to Menard, which is about 18 miles from Fort McKavett.
