Travel Guide to Thung Salaeng Luang National Park

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Khao Kho District. From Phetchabun town, take Route 21 heading towards Khao Kho. After approximately 35 kilometers, follow signs for Khao Kho. When you reach the junction, turn left onto Route 12. Continue on this road for about 18 kilometers. As you approach Nong Mae Na, watch for the signs directing you to Thung Salaeng Luang National Park. The park entrance is located at HVHM+J2C, approximately 5 kilometers from the main road.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Thung Salaeng Luang National Park using public transportation, first take a bus from Phetchabun bus station to Khao Kho. The bus ride takes about 1 hour and costs around 50-100 THB. Once you arrive in Khao Kho, you can hire a local taxi or songthaew (shared taxi) to take you to the park entrance. The cost for this ride is approximately 300-500 THB depending on negotiation and distance.

• Taxi

  For a more direct and convenient option, you can hire a taxi from Phetchabun directly to Thung Salaeng Luang National Park. This will save time as you won’t have to transfer from bus to taxi. The cost will be higher, around 800-1200 THB, but this option provides comfort and flexibility. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.

• Motorbike Rental

  If you are comfortable riding a motorbike, consider renting one in Phetchabun. The rental cost is typically around 200-400 THB per day. From Phetchabun town, follow the same route as if you were driving a car, heading towards Khao Kho District. Riding a motorbike allows you to enjoy the scenic views along the way and provides flexibility to stop and explore.
