Getting There

• Songthaew

  From the center of Chiang Rai, head to the nearest Songthaew (shared taxi) stop. You can find Songthaews around the Clock Tower area. Look for a red Songthaew and tell the driver you're going to Mae Yao. The fare is typically around 30-50 Baht. The ride will take about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Elephant Peace Project located at 69 หมู่ 10, Mae Yao, Mueang Chiang Rai District.

• Tuk-tuk

  If you prefer a more private option, you can hire a Tuk-tuk from anywhere in Chiang Rai. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around 200-300 Baht for a one-way trip to Elephant Peace Project. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Provide the driver with the address: 69 หมู่ 10, Mae Yao, Mueang Chiang Rai District.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous tourists, renting a bicycle is a great way to explore Chiang Rai and get to the Elephant Peace Project. You can rent a bicycle from various shops in the city center. Head northwest on Phaholyothin Road towards Mae Yao. Continue straight for about 10 km, and then turn left onto the road leading to Mae Yao. Follow the signs until you reach 69 หมู่ 10, where the project is located. It may take about an hour, so be prepared for a scenic ride.

• Walking

  Walking to the Elephant Peace Project is not recommended due to the distance (approximately 10 km from the city center) and lack of pedestrian-friendly paths. However, if you are determined, head out of the city center towards Phaholyothin Road, then follow the same route as mentioned for the bicycle option. It will take several hours, so ensure you have plenty of water and sun protection.
