Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head to Mae Chai District in Phayao Province. From the center of the Phi Pan Nam Range, take Route 1 (Phahonyothin Road) towards Phayao. After approximately 50 km, turn onto Route 1148 towards Mae Chai. Follow this road for about 25 km until you see signs for Mae Puem National Park. The park entrance is located at 19.3535327 latitude and 99.8672976 longitude. There is a small entrance fee, so have some cash ready.

• Public Transport

  To reach Mae Puem National Park via public transport, take a bus from the nearest bus station in the Phi Pan Nam Range area to Phayao. Look for buses heading to Mae Chai. The journey will take approximately 2 to 3 hours. Once you arrive at the Mae Chai bus station, you can hire a local tuk-tuk or songthaew (shared taxi) to take you to the park entrance, which is about 15 km away. The fare for the tuk-tuk should be negotiated, typically around 200-300 THB.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct and comfortable option, you can hire a taxi from your location in the Phi Pan Nam Range directly to Mae Puem National Park. This will be more expensive than public transport, with fares likely ranging from 800 to 1,200 THB depending on your starting point and the taxi service. Be sure to agree on the price before starting your journey.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, consider cycling to Mae Puem National Park. This option requires good physical fitness and a reliable bike. From the Phi Pan Nam Range, take Route 1 toward Phayao, then Route 1148. The total distance is approximately 75 km, and it may take several hours. Ensure you have plenty of water and snacks, as well as a bike repair kit. Remember to check the weather and plan your route carefully.
