Public Bus
From Surat Thani city center, head to the Surat Thani Bus Terminal (Nakhon Surat Thani). You can take a tuk-tuk or walk, as it's roughly 2 km from the center. Once at the terminal, look for buses heading towards Makham Tia. The bus ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at Makham Tia, which is close to Khao Tha Phet. After getting off, you will need to walk for about 1 km towards the mountain.
Songthaew (Shared Taxi)
At the Surat Thani Bus Terminal, you can also catch a songthaew (a type of shared taxi) heading towards Makham Tia. The songthaew will take you directly to the area, and it's a quicker option than a bus. Once you reach Makham Tia, you will need to walk about 1 km uphill to Khao Tha Phet.
Motorbike Taxi
If you're looking for a faster option, consider hiring a motorbike taxi from Surat Thani city center. You can find motorbike taxis near popular areas like the night market or bus terminal. Negotiate the fare beforehand. The ride to Khao Tha Phet will take around 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver can drop you off close to the base of the mountain.
Walking
If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk from Surat Thani city center to Khao Tha Phet. The distance is approximately 7 km, and it will take around 1.5 to 2 hours.
