Getting There

  • Walking

    Starting from the center of Serrekunda, head east towards the main road, Kairaba Avenue. Walk along Kairaba Avenue until you reach the junction with the Brikama Highway. Turn left onto Brikama Highway. Continue walking on the highway for approximately 2 kilometers. You will pass several local shops and eateries along the way. Keep an eye out for signs indicating the direction to Abuko Nature Reserve. After about 2 kilometers, you will see the entrance to Abuko Nature Reserve on your right.

  • Bicycle

    If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Serrekunda Market. Ride north on the main road towards Kairaba Avenue. Once you reach Kairaba Avenue, turn left and cycle until you reach the intersection with Brikama Highway. Turn left onto Brikama Highway and continue straight for about 2 kilometers. You will notice the signs for Abuko Nature Reserve on your right. It's a pleasant ride with a few local shops along the way for refreshments.

  • Public Transport (Bush Taxi)

    From Serrekunda, head to the nearest bush taxi station (usually near the main market). Look for a bush taxi heading towards Lamin or Brikama. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the Abuko Nature Reserve stop. The trip should take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive, follow the signs to the entrance of the reserve, which is a short walk from the drop-off point.
