A brief summary to Abuko Nature Reserve

Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the center of Soma, near the main market. Head west on the main road (Soma-Banjul Highway). Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction at the edge of town. At this junction, you will see signs pointing towards Lamin and Brikama. Follow the signs towards Lamin and continue for another 2 kilometers along the highway.

  • Walking

    As you approach Lamin, you will encounter a bus stop where local transport vehicles (known as 'gelli-gellis') frequently stop. At this point, you can choose to board a gelli-gelli heading towards Brikama. Inform the driver or conductor that you want to get off at Abuko Nature Reserve. The ride will take approximately 20 minutes.

  • Walking

    Once the gelli-gelli drops you off, you will be near the entrance of Abuko Nature Reserve, which is located along Brikama Highway. Follow the signs that lead to the entrance of the reserve. It should be a short walk of about 5 minutes from the drop-off point.
