Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the Mount Agou area. The road is well-paved but may have some potholes, so drive carefully. Once you reach the base of the mountain, you may need to park your car in designated parking areas.
Public Transportation (Taxi-Brousse)
To reach Mount Agou using public transportation, you can take a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) from Atakpamé. Head to the central taxi-brousse station where you can find taxis heading towards Dapaong. The fare is approximately 1,500 CFA francs per person, and the journey will take about 45 minutes. Make sure to inform the driver that you want to stop at Mount Agou. They will drop you off at the nearest point to the mountain.
Hiking
After arriving at the base of Mount Agou, you will need to hike to the summit. There are marked trails leading up the mountain, which take about 2 to 3 hours depending on your pace. Ensure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and carry enough water. Local guides are available for hire if you prefer assistance on your hike. Typically, hiring a guide costs around 5,000 CFA francs, which can enhance your experience with local knowledge.
Local Guide Services
If you prefer a structured experience, consider booking a local guide service. You can often find guides at the foot of the mountain or in nearby towns.
