Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey at the city center of Lomé. Head northeast on Avenue de la République towards Rue de la Gare. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Boulevard du Mono, then turn left. Keep driving until you reach the junction with Route Nationale 1. Continue on Route Nationale 1 for about 20 km, following signs for Atakpamé. After passing through the town of Kpalimé, look for signs directing you to the Awatame Plateau. You will need to take a right turn onto the local road that leads up to the plateau, which is approximately 5 km from the main road. Be mindful of local traffic and road conditions. Parking is available near the summit.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start at the main bus station in Lomé. Look for shared taxis or minibuses heading towards Kpalimé. The fare is typically around 2,000 to 3,000 CFA francs. Once you reach Kpalimé, you will need to transfer to a local taxi or motorcycle taxi (known as 'zemidjan'). Negotiate the fare, which should be about 1,000 to 2,000 CFA francs, to take you to the Awatame Plateau. The drivers are usually familiar with the area, so just inform them of your destination. Be prepared for a short walk from the drop-off point to the actual plateau.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity of the Awatame Plateau and looking to enjoy a walk, you can approach the plateau on foot. From the nearest bus stop or taxi drop-off, follow the local paths that wind up to the plateau. The walk is about 1-2 km depending on your starting point and can take approximately 30 minutes. Ensure to wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be uneven.
