Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Chaguanas, head south on Montrose Main Road towards the Southern Main Road. Continue walking until you reach the Southern Main Road junction. Turn right onto Southern Main Road and walk straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto the Caroni River Road (also known as the Caroni Swamp Road). Follow this road for approximately 3 kilometers, and you will see the entrance to Caroni Swamp on your left. It is marked with signs, so keep an eye out for them.

  • Public Transport

    From Chaguanas, walk to the nearest taxi stand located at the corner of Montrose Main Road and Southern Main Road. Take a shared taxi heading to Caroni. Ensure to inform the driver you want to go to Caroni Swamp. The fare should be minimal. The taxi will drop you off near the entrance to Caroni Swamp. From there, it's a short walk to the entrance where you'll find guided tours available.

    If you are comfortable riding a bicycle, you can rent one in Chaguanas. Start from the main square and head south on Montrose Main Road. Continue to the Southern Main Road junction, where you will turn right. Ride along the Southern Main Road until you reach the roundabout.
