Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards Maçka from your location in Bithynia. Follow the signs for Trabzon, and then take the D-100 highway north. After about 20 kilometers, take the exit for Maçka. Once in Maçka, continue straight until you see signs for Sümela Monastery. Follow the winding road through Altındere Valley National Park. There is a parking area near the monastery where you can leave your car. Note that parking may incur a fee.

To reach Sümela Monastery via public transportation, take a bus from Trabzon's main bus station to Maçka. Buses run frequently, and the journey takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive in Maçka, you can either take a local minibus or a taxi to the monastery. The minibus will take you directly to the entrance of the monastery, and the fare is usually around 10-15 Turkish Lira. Be sure to check the return schedule for buses back to Trabzon.
